My trip to France by Louis

On Thursday, I had to get up really early because I was going to France on the Eurostar to practise my French and to go up the Eiffel tower. We arrived at Gare Du Nord station at 1:00 pm and got a taxi to a tour service place where we were met by our very kind tour guide called Sonja. She took us to the Eiffel Tower and it was absolutely amazing, massive and there were names on the 1st platform which were of all the famous people of Mr Eiffel (the owner)’s time. Next she took us up the Eiffel Tower in a lift one of the legs of it. At the very top it was awesome, when we looked out everything looked like dots on the ground. After a lovely time in the Eiffel Tower we took a taxi back to the station because we were leaving that evening. We boarded the train at 5:00 pm expecting to be home by 9:00pm and things were going well until we reached Calais… when disaster struck! Our train was about to enter the Euro-tunnel when we heard crunching and banging noises and our train slowed to a halt. We had no idea what had happened until the driver said on the speaker that we had hit an animal and that the train was badly damaged. Then we had to wait three hours for the technical team to arrive , then one hour for them to fix the train, and even then it was only fixed just enough to go back 50 miles – to get to Lille station to transfer trains. It turns out it was the front of the train that was damaged, and we were in the first carriage which is why we felt it! As a result, we ended up getting home at 1:30 am!

The Zombies are coming…….! Is this really Yash??

Today in my dance class we were going to film our Halloween dance ‘Thriller’ of Michael Jackson. I left school and my mum got me ready in the car with my zombie costume that she made. She then started to paint my face to look like a zombie, it took a long time and I was getting tired sitting. We then left for the class, and when I got there all my friends were dressed up and we all looked very good. We started to do a practice in the studio, and the boys practiced their freestyle and after a warm up we went outside to film the dance. The teachers took a few pictures and then we started to perform the dance. The time passed quickly and I was very happy that I did it. I loved dancing and I also learnt some new dance moves, one of them is spinning on the floor on my back. I’m excited about my next performance.

From Louis – My First Radio Interview

My first radio interview.
On Thursday morning I thought it would be a good idea for me to ring in to the Chris Evans breakfast show on Radio 2 because they have a slot each morning where children can call in to the programme and talk about what they are doing for the first time today, and I was taking my first flute exam.
My mum dialled the number for me and I spoke to a researcher who wanted to know my name, where I was from and what I was doing for the first time that day. In the background I heard lots of other people calling in, but the researcher chose me. She called back a bit later to say that I was going to be on the show and I had to practice saying “Good morning Chris!” in a really chirpy voice, over and over again. To get ready for the show I had to put the cat, and my sister, in another room so they wouldn’t distract me on air. It was really scary talking to Chris because I realised there were thousands of people listening to me. He was really nice even if he did get my name wrong quite a few times, and the grade that I was taking!!
The next day, they called back at 6.50am (my mum wasn’t even dressed yet !!) to check if I was ready to go on air again later that morning. They called me at 7.25am and I got to listen to the music they were playing on the radio down my phone! When the song finished, Chris Evans asked me if I passed my exam and I said “yes” and he asked me what mark I would give myself out of 10 and I said googleplex (I had practiced that bit before!). I was impressed that he knew it was the largest number known. Then he asked me to play my flute down the phone so I gave the phone to my mum and I played, I got my flute and music ready beforehand because I thought he might ask me to do this! I played one line of Greensleeves and he said he could have heard more but I thought that he only wanted me to play what I played! I was feeling very nervous because I was playing to the whole nation but afterwards I felt really proud of myself and I asked my mum when I could do it again The whole experience was epic!
You can hear me on BBC iPlayer. I’m on at 58:30 minutes in to the show: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b06g7qnt

The Tudor Workshop

On Thursday we had a visit from Catherine Hammond of Epping Forest District and Lowewood Museums. We learnt a lot about how ordinary Tudors lived. Check out these photos and everyone’s comments. You will see how much it was enjoyed by all the boys.

From Niam V…….

This past Sunday I played a football match with my team, AC Finchley against Whetstone Wanderers. It was a hard match but we still won 5-3. I was awarded “Man of the match” this week because I had a good attitude towards the game and always said yes when my coach put me in a position that I don’t usually play. I felt very proud of myself because I was given good comments by my coach. This is me with my trophy:
